A Christmas Star

Well we are almost half way through another year so I figure it was time to start the Christmas projects.  As part of the Cards with a Difference series of workshops, I thought a Star Book would definitely fit the theme.   These complicated looking cards are very easy to put together and offer a wonderful keeps sake when made as a wedding card or baby book.  The possibilities are endless and can easy be turned into a mini album.

When it comes to Christmas projects I tend to shy away from the tradition colours of Red and Green and love the teal or lilac colours.  I love the softness of these colours!

I used one sheet of Prima Marketing North Country Icicles in this book along with Core'dinations cardstock in Cloudburst, Vienna Lake, White and French Roast.

I also stuck to the one stamp set by Stamp-It Australia which is full of Christmas quotes.

I decided to keep to the theme of Snowflakes and used a mixture of the Stampin' Up Snowflake Flurries and the Couture Creations Snowflake dies. The reindeer and some other dies are all from the Marianne Creatables collection.

I am hoping my ladies enjoy making this Star Book as much as I did.  Its definitely one of those cards that are for special occasions and the special people in our lives.

Sail away

This week more stunning stamps arrived from Darkroom Door and will shortly be loaded online.   Its my Dad's birthday this weekend so I thought what better excuse than to play with two of the newest additions.
To create the background, I used the World Map Background stamp on some cream paper using Stazon Timber Brown ink.  I then tore the paper to make it look like an old map and brushed the edges with Distress Ink - Vintage Photo.    The ship comes from the Sail Away set and was stamped with Jet black Archival ink with Stormy Sky Distress ink added to the base of the boat.   This was layered onto some Core'dinations card then finished off with some twine, a charm and sentiments.

I love our crisp and clean the Darkroom Door Stamps come out even with such fine detail in the image.  Hopefully my Dad will like the card too.
